Room 227 | Sunday Morning

Sam hadn't slept last night. Usually, that wasn't a huge deal since he tended to sleep alone but now that he was living with his girlfriend, it was kind of hard to hide that from her at the very least. He'd laid there for awhile and then he'd gotten up and puttered around the room and eventually went for a walk.

Look, he'd been trying hard to make sure those ghosts didn't appear at night, okay? It was either not sleeping or wearing the pouch and he chose...not sleeping. Because he was an idiot.

But, he was awake now. He had a bowl of cereal in front of him, his skateboard laying wheels up next to his hip and his back against the foot of the bed. A few records were near his feet and one of them was on the record player, filling the room with quiet music.

But hey, he hadn't been entirely unproductive this past weekend. He'd gone into town, gotten himself a job, and now he was eating cereal and was about to fix up his skateboard.

So, things...could be worse.

"I'll always come back."

Come on, he couldn't stay away from her long.

"You're gonna soothe me?" His smiled widened some. "How?"

"Don't know yet," Natalie said with a little shrug, dropping a kiss on his shoulder. "Could read to you, maybe. Or rub your back. Or ––" And this one was more of a joke. "–– I guess we could have the kind of sex that tires you out and let the afterglow lull you into sleep. Many possibilities."

Sam laughed and it surprised him because he hadn't expected it. He shook his head and looked back over his shoulder at her.

"You went from things that are rated G -- " Though he supposed rubbing his back could turn into something rated higher than that.... " -- to things that are rated R. Though, you sounded a little unsure of that last one."

[whenshewasnice]

"It's called being funny, Sam," Natalie retorted. And hey, it had totally worked, too. "And I don't know if that last one was any more unsure than the others."

"Well, you know I'd be cool with any of those," he told her, laughing again. "They all have their benefits. Nothing wrong with any of the choices."

[whenshewasnice]

"Or combinations thereof," she supplied in a murmur. "I know. You're easy."

[necroslacker]

"I am."

Yeah, of course he was.

"So're you. What would be your preferred method of soothing anyway?"

[whenshewasnice]

"What, soothing you or soothing me?"

Mmm, hedging.

[necroslacker]

"Both."

Hey, her hedging just opened a new question for him.

[whenshewasnice]

"Well, in that case, maybe I'll just pick the best from both worlds," Natalie suggested. "Being read to for myself, and sex for you."

"Sex for me?"

Sam was pretty sure that was the first time he'd heard something like that directed at him.

"Think I like that, hmm?"

She wasn't wrong.

[whenshewasnice]

"I know you do." She knew it for a fact and wouldn't pretend otherwise. "So, sex for you. You can pass out sweaty and fulfilled."

"And what're you gonna be doing while I'm passing out, sweaty and fulfilled?" Sam asked, snickering.

[whenshewasnice]

"You don't think I'll be sweaty and fulfilled too?"

Tsk.

[necroslacker]

"Well, you didn't mention it so I thought I'd ask," he answered, shaking his head. "I'm not awful at all that, if I do say so myself so I think you'll be okay."

[whenshewasnice]

"I think so too," Natalie murmured, lightly kissing the curve of his neck. "You're not bad at all."

[necroslacker]

"You have to say that because you love me," Sam murmured, sighing and closing his eyes. "Biased."

[whenshewasnice]

"It's better with love involved," Natalie retorted, lips against his skin. "Much more emotional. Deepens connections."

[necroslacker]

"Are you talking about sex or everything?" Sam asked because he was curious.

[whenshewasnice]

"Everything," she decided after a moment. "But I did think I was talking about sex. But I suppose it works for most things."

[necroslacker]

"...I'm not gonna be able to think of anything but sex now."

He made a face and shook his head at himself.

"Your fault."

[whenshewasnice]

Natalie's turn to laugh, and be surprised by it.

"Sorry?"

She wasn't that sorry.

"You're not sorry at all," Sam said, making a face. "Now, what am I supposed to do, huh?"

[whenshewasnice]

"I wouldn't know," Natalie replied idly, nipping at his neck a little since it was there and she had teeth and all. "You're a smart guy, you'll figure something out."

[necroslacker]

"I am pretty smart."

Well, he thought he had at least above average intelligence even if his common sense was a little lacking sometimes. He sighed and chewed on his bottom lip.

"Also got two hands."

He could tease a little too.
