outside menudo cabin ; wednesday afternoon
It was nice to be able to go outside again and not end up soaking wet and irritated. It was nice to be able to hit the boardwalk and ride his skateboard for hours on end, working up a good sweat despite the mild temperatures. It was nice to really break in his new board so he could take it back to Seattle and show Ramon that he wasn't just out here buying new things.
What wasn't nice was having to clean himself up after taking a nasty spill when he'd gotten distracted by his own thoughts. The Council meeting was in two days and Sam had gotten distracted enough at one point that he'd lost control of his board and ended up with a pretty bad case of road rash on both elbows. He'd ended his ride shortly thereafter.
Now, he was sitting outside of his cabin, trying to clean up the blood and dirt that was currently decorating both of his elbows. It wasn't the first time he'd done this but that didn't stop it from hurting a whole heck of a lot. First aid kit between his feet, Sam was lightly dabbing at each elbow to clean it off before he got to bandaging it.
Even with this setback, he still liked that it wasn't raining. He just didn't want to go the Council meeting in a few days. He sucked at that stuff. And unfortunately two busted up elbows wouldn't get him out of that.
Oh well.

Oh, right, universe had a sense of humor.

"It's kinda messy," Sam pointed out because, well, blood and dirt and who knew what else. It had been a pretty bad spill. "I wouldn't wanna be responsible for someone having to do laundry."

Only they'd never come out quite clean before, back home.

"If you're riding anything with four tiny wheels and no seatbelt, try not distracted or you're just gonna be doomed to hit the only freaking pebble within a mile. After that, gravity takes over and gravity is not a forgiving thing."
