So, it was date night. And since it was Sam's idea, he'd picked the spot after getting some help with the language and the things offered from the hotel staff. And after some discussion, Sam had picked a small place that was both a place to eat, a place to look at art and a place to buy music. He thought it'd be Natalie's heaven and he figured he could enjoy it as well through her eyes.

He'd gotten himself dressed, told her minimal details about the place and was now standing outside the building with her hand in his hand. He still couldn't read the language so he glanced at her said, "You know enough to read any of this yet?"

Hopefully that meant she'd help him not order something with meat in it. Or something else just as gross.

"No." She wasn't that stupid about playing things close to the vest, thank you. "Not particularly."

Not at all.

"So, just tell me you wanna sleep like that," Sam said quietly. "Come on, I don't mind the bossiness. I like it. I'm teasing you."

"I like sleeping like that," Natalie replied, with an eyeroll which thankfully came with a lopsided ghost of a smile that indicated she wasn't getting pissy. "You know that."

"I know you do," Sam said, giving her a little smile. "Why? And that's not questioning you. That's just me being curious."

[whenshewasnice]

Natalie shrugged. "Don't know." Liar. "Guess it's a comfort thing. I'm just... comfortable like that."

[necroslacker]

"I bet you do know and you just don't wanna share," Sam said, giving her a little smile. "But you can keep your secrets if you'd like. I don't mind."

Natalie rolled her eyes again. "No big secrets there. It's just how I like it."

She just felt safe like that. And free to move even while staying close. But both felt weird to say.

"You're just lucky that I don't mind sleeping like that," Sam said, leaning forward and giving her a small, private smile. "I could be worried about taking an elbow to my face. You do have sharp elbows even if you're soft."

She snorted. "I have sharp elbows ––" There was no point in trying to deny that. "–– but I sleep way too peacefully for even a theoretical worry like that."

"And how do you know something won't happen that won't be like a fluke or something where you give me a black eye?" Sam wondered jokingly.

"My stats for moving gracefully are too high."

So there.

"You have stats for that?" Sam asked, sounding amused. "Really?"

[whenshewasnice]

Shrug. "There are stats for most things." It was another one of those things that just... were.

[necroslacker]

"Yeah?" Sam leaned back and stretched out legs in both an attempt to get more comfortable and to see if he could find her legs to play a little footsie. "What's the last bit of stat padding I did?"

[whenshewasnice]

He'd probably have to really reach, though. Natalie sat neatly, for lack of a better word. The soles of her shoes pressed flat against the floor, neither under her chair noor far from it.

But then it wasn't a huge table, either.

And she could tease over it. "That's classified information."

[necroslacker]

"And why's that?" Sam asked, trying to use his height to reach and actually nudge her shin with his foot. "I think I should be pretty privy to classified information. Think we're close enough now."

[whenshewasnice]

"There's been plenty mentions of how I keep stuff to myself already," Natalie pointed out. While moving her leg forward a bit to give his foot a nudge back. "This could be one of those."

[necroslacker]

"You've told me about your stats before," Sam said, sliding his foot along her leg now that he'd found it. "What's so different about right now?"

[whenshewasnice]

"Specifics?" she offered, with a little smile that was not directed at his words. "You're privy to some but not all."

[necroslacker]

"I don't agree," Sam said and stroked his foot against her leg gently. "You've given me specifics before. You're being contradictory."

[whenshewasnice]

"Different specifics, Sam," she retorted with a little sigh. "It's not contradiction, it's just specifics being different."

[necroslacker]

"I think you're just being difficult," he told her, keeping his foot moving against her leg. "I'm almost positive of it."

Natalie just shrugged, like she didn't know about that. Or care. Either or.

She shifted her leg a bit, though not out of his reach. The opposite, actually.

"You taking the fifth or something?" Sam asked, moving his leg up closer to her knee (but keeping away from the sensitive area behind it).

[whenshewasnice]

It was good that he did, because Natalie might've kicked him if he'd tried to make her cause any kind of a scene in public.

"I don't know what that means."

Since she was an oblivious Canadian.
