After spending most of her life having to handle everything so physically, Rey didn't use the Force for a lot of minor things. Sure, sometimes you didn't want to flip a light switch or whatever, and picking up on things like Force senses was more like something she had to switch off, but the only time she defaulted to using things like telepathy was when it was instinctive.

She'd given herself a little mission, and she was trying to use it for as much as possible for about a week. It wasn't about being lazy, but she figured there were ways to use it that she'd never thought of before. At worst it was an exercise in fine control.

So today she wasn't doing anything by hand that she didn't have to. Opening the door, setting up remotes, cleaning up the confetti that she was still finding in places from last week, she wasn't doing anything of that herself/i>. It was harder to remember to do it than to actually do any of it.

Flint had been startled from reading Sun Tsu's Art of War by the phone ringing. (He didn't know the phone even worked.)

The incredibly perky voice on the other end of the line didn't lessen his confusion in any way. "...back to school inventory," he repeated, sounding baffled. "We're a bookshop."

And that was how there would be a hundred adorable new notebooks delivered next week. Flint had said "uh huh" one too many times in an effort to get the person off of the phone.

For now, though, Flint was living in blissful oblivion as he plotted (as always) the downfall of the British Empire.

The door to the shop was open because Flint hadn't figured out air conditioning.

Good morning, everyone! It's Steve Rogers with the news of yesterday.

In classes, Summer introduced Stark's hobby class to the wonderful world of mid-century American cuisine, Pizza class ate casserole in Chicago--

*chittering*

Yes, you can expect this commentary for the rest of the summer. I was raised on Brooklyn pizza. I have opinions. Liliana stopped being a cat in time to teach her class, and I'm very impressed by her dedication.

In town, Liz was unpacking new stock at the Photo Hut, Pam was taking care of the hollyhock that's usually Adrien at Pick Your Poison, and Thor continued the race car movie theme at The Devil's Nest. Steven checked the exhibits at the museum to be sure that there weren't any people-turned-animals lost in there before Watts arrived with lunch and a discussion about what animals they were turn into. Harley also stopped in and learned about Steven and Watts' communication strategies. Lydia took Rey shopping during Luma's shift at Pixie Dust. After shopping, Rey and Lydia went to a crab shack with Flint for Supper Club and beat on crabs with a mallet for dinner. Sounds delicious!

On that slightly hungry note, I'm out of news! Maybe Tony and I'll go for crabs this weekend, too. Have a great day.

When the students arrived today, they would find a black backpack waiting at their seat. "Okay, everyone," Don greeted them. "Tony Stark has generously donated first aid kits." That was a field medic kit, Tony. "So let's go through what's in here and how to use it, so that when you need a band-aid you don't mistakenly grab a chest seal. Hopefully you won't actually need the chest seals."

There were chest seals in here. Oh, and a snake venom extractor kit. Did they even have venomous snakes on this island? Maybe it worked on gremlin bites, too.

Don spent the rest of the class period unpacking the backpack and handwavily explaining what each item was for and a little bit about how to use it. Yes, including the chest seals.

"If you got one of these in a previous class," because this was not the first time Tony had done this, and he should not have been surprised when he did it again, "feel free to pass this one along to a friend. Everyone should have a first aid kit." Maybe not one this extensive. "Are there any questions?"

Expecting a relatively quiet day at the shop, Eleanor came in, took care of the usual housekeeping and plant-tending things that she usually started her shift with, took care of a few new things to go on the shelves, and then settled in behind the counter with a big cup of tea and an even bigger book of the dusty old poems that she loved so much.

She was mildly concerned that her quiet, peaceful day might be ruined when a couple of gremlin came into the shop not long after she'd settled, but they were actually very easy to handle and were in and out relatively quickly, which just felt like a good, abject lesson in not assuming that just because someone is a gremlin meant that they were going to give you a hard time.

Which almost then made her wonder if gremlins were also subject to being gremlin bit, but she shook her head and realized that down that way went madness and instead figured it was just much easier on the brain to focus on, you know, something nice and easy like Eliot.

There were a number of toy cars on the 'stage' when class arrived. Because someone was inspired by the movie earlier in the week. And neither of the teachers had it in them to deter this artistic vision.

Or they just didn't want to.

"So, apparently there have been some rewrites to the play," Jane said. "And now it involves underground car races."

Her expression was one of 'what can you do?'

"According to our director, your roles are generally the same," including Steve still playing a tiny child. "You're just now all underground racers too. Which means stunt driving."

"Let's get some practice in with the scooters and you can adjust your characterization?" Jane offered. Hopefully.

Or just spend your time crashing. Either worked.

Liliana was once again leaning against the front of the desk, wearing a man's button down shirt that hit her at mid-thigh and a wryly amused expression. "Good morning, class," she said. "I'm sure you're all as thrilled as I am to be having class today." She genuinely was thrilled was the thing. She had not been best pleased about being a cat in general, but losing an entire class was insupportable. "Today we're covering the end of the Brother's War, the discovery of the Phyrexian infiltration, and the activation of the Golgothian Sylex."

ExpandVacations don't mean lectures get any shorter )

"Two additional side effects of the Sylex Blast that went unknown and unnoticed for centuries were the creation of a time rift, a fracture in the planar fabric of Dominaria itself, and the formation of the Dominarian Nexus and the Shard of Twelve Worlds. The latter only affected Planeswalkers, and the former...well, we'll talk about the former during out final class. Any questions?"

"All right," Raiden told his students once they'd stepped through this week's portal and were standing on a street outside--you guessed it--a pizzeria. "Today we're in Chicago, home to the deep dish pizza, which is baked in a high-sided pan like a cake tin, with layers and layers of cheese and yummy ingredients. Some people will tell you this isn't pizza. Those people are snobs. Don't listen to them. The new pope is from Chicago, so he probably likes deep dish, and you can't argue with the pope, right? Science." Actually, that was religion, and it wasn't even Raiden's religion, but...details. "You're probably gonna want to eat this pizza with a knife and fork, since you can't really pick up a slice without making a giant mess, but hey, you do you. And after we eat, if you have some time left over, you can explore the neighborhood of Lincoln Park! But first..." He held open the door to Lou Malnati's for them. "Let's get some pizza."

It had been a lot to deal with having to completely restock the store of the last week or two since that vicious raccoon raid destroyed so much of it, but Luma realized that there was an excellent opportunity here for her to be in charge, especially with Boc now presumably gone back to where he came from, to set up the store the way she might like it to be.

Of course, of course, the other employees would get a say, too, it wasn't like she was the boss or anything. But she was a bit boss-y (as she should be! She was, really, an alpha now), and if no one else was going to contend with her or fight for dominance, then she would just go ahead and proceed.

She was having a lot of fun with it, too, considering what should go where, rearranging, reorganizing, changing her mind, and setting up a display in the window, but there was a part of her who kind of did wish someone would challenge her. Because while this was fun, that would be exciting.

Guess what, everyone! You were meeting in the home ec classroom today, and you had a substitute teacher! Your normal teacher was there, too, but, just hold on a moment, we'll get to that!

"Good morning, everyone!" Summer greeted the class cheerfully. "How's it going? For those of you who don't know, I'm Summer, and I'm going to be teaching Stark's class today because Stark," she gestured to the animal sitting on the desk beside her, "is currently a koala. As, I'm sure you all know, is just a thing sometimes."

And if you didn't know that already? Well, one new lesson learned down for the day!

"Anyway," she said, "moving on. Since this class is about hobbies, I figured it just made sense to bring to you all a weird hobby I've picked up over the years and that I've really glommed onto and that's a certain morbid fascination with old Mid-Century American recipes, borne out of that bizarro post-war cross-section of prosperity, capitalism, and industrial innovation to bring you things like...."

Oh, no, there were cloches. Summer was lifting the lids of some of them now.

"Prawn-stuffed apples , ham-wrapped bananas with hollandaise sauce, a 'pineapple' made of liver sausage, and of course, the jello mold. This one in particular is a cherry ketchup one, which means it's pretty mild and tame. Especially when compared to some other popular options, such as lime jello with any cheese, and any jello with any kind of fish but especially canned tuna or salmon.

"So, today, we'll be tapping into this as your new potential hobby and I'm going to challenge you to come up with your own terrible Mid-Century style recipe to present to the class today. Bonus point for anyone willing to try each other's work, too! I have a lot of great resources and recipe cards for you to flip through to get inspiration, and even a blast chiller if you need your jello to set faster, and even vegan agar-agar for a plant-based alternative if that's a concern. Obviously, if you have any questions, fire away, but if not, then let's get to seeing what horrible things you can come up with!"

There were black hollyhocks on the counter at Pick Your Poison, and a diligent proprietress who occasionally swung by to check the level of moisture and fertilizer in the soil. "I'd say you seem more calm and content this way, but you're always upbeat," Pam sighed, as she delicately plucked a spent flower from the plant. "It's kind of irritating."

That wasn't really true. Her side still stung from when she'd gotten up too quickly that morning, and Killer Croc's request to go wreck some housing development was still in the air, not to mention the ongoing lamia situation. She could actually use Adrian's easy cheer right now.

But the best she had was the gentle sway of the hollyhocks, and the arbitrary busywork of sweeping up the store before she, eventually, returned to the laboratory upstairs.

You know, I'm not going to ask why you're driving a rickshaw in here, but how are you even managing to drive it in the first place?

No, wait, I don't actually want to know that either.

In School news, Shenanakins were all about family, and beating that family in a race. People took the dangerous risk of mingling, and got voluntold for their troubles. Then they had to race tricycles, rickshaws, and pods, the last of which Anakin won, so they can't have been that hard.

Dorms continued to be quiet, while in Town, Quinn was at the Infinite Consortium feeling like she was being watched, I can't imagine what could have led to that. At the Trooper Station, Danny and one of the Steves talked about Steve's racing successes and penguin conspiracies. The squirrels would also like me to inform you that even conspiracy penguins are not for eating. Summer was back at Caritas telling Rey and Atton all about her trip, while Stark was a koala. Okay.

The podracing had actually been . . . fun?

She hadn't really been aware that she could still experience "fun".

And she had this badass turtle shirt now.

So she was actually kind of smiling today, as she spun back and forth in her seat behind the sales counter. Even the weird "you're being watched" feeling that tended to accompany her shifts in the store (and her walks down the street, and her time chilling in her own room) didn't bother her too much.

Was.

Was it possible that.

Good morning, listeners! It is I, Sam Eagle, here to report the news from yesterday. It seems your regular broadcaster for Wednesdays has been turned into a koala. The man did not even have the decency to turn into a bird! Very well.

For classes at the school we began with my class on (Even More) American National Parks where we watched a thrilling docuseries on what some have called America’s best idea. In Paintball! a bird won the game as is proper. And there were puppies which is frankly quite weird even if those puppies do belong to Captain America. After the class concluded, Detective Watts who is unfortunately Canadian, stopped to speak with Captain Rogers and thank him with a bottle of wine.

There are no notes from the dorms which pleases me but does please the small, strange bird in this studio. Why he would want to know what happens in student rooms is a mystery.

Now we shall move to the town which was certainly weird as it included Stark turning into a koala at the diner when the poor beleaguered chef, Ignis, was simply trying to do a thorough cleaning of the place while listening to an attempted apology. Afterwards the chef threatened to take care of the situation. If there are unknown meats on the menu today they not be consumed! After that, Liliana, who has become a cat which is even worse than a koala, cats eat smaller birds, came to visit and did not turn back to her usual self. These transformations are getting out of wing! Out of hand!

Gladio of the magnificent tattoo dealt with weird gremlins climbing on his equipment.

*snickering*

Quiet! That is improper!

At Caritas Ms. Pryde-Barton had to deal with Tino the bartender and I am given to understand that is worse than weird gremlins, somehow. There were arguments about beer. Everyone knows that Sam Adams is the correct choice of lager! The establishment was patronized by none other than Captain America himself, Steve Rogers who showed off pictures of his puppies and ordered the wrong beer and there are notes here that seem to have been hastily erased. Very suspicious, squirrels. All I can make out is the word ‘cute.’ That could mean anything! If you must spy on everyone at least do it properly.

Prompto faced the daunting task of repairing his daughter’s beloved camera at The Photo Hut. I hope that went well. Children can be so unreasonable about these things.

Remy who I am assured is not French, brought his cats to work with him. That seems unwise in a shop with breakable items, sir! His employer was not pleased to see the cats at first but did eventually offer them treats rather than feeding them to a hyena.

Finally, it seems that Steph was at home playing some sort of roleplaying game on her computer and then Vi offered to help her cool down.

And there you have it, Fandom, all the news from yesterday that was fit for squirrels to print. Good day!

Ragefest had actually been over since the weekend, but Summer clearly hadn't been ready to let the party finish quite then, staying on a few extra days to just sort of suck down those last few dregs of debauchery and dalliance and turn her eyes toward a more chill presence there. The jello shots, after all, had been a hit and her partying/networking, of course, got people buzzing, but there were a few logistical hurdles she was having trouble clearing. And, of course, last night was meant to be one last hurrah of District jumping and Guild gallivanting, which was slightly dampened by the unexpected arrival of an ex-turned-koala.

Of course she didn't let that stop her, but it did sort of screw with her hook-up plans. Postpone them, really. Because she was going to figure out a way to make this new jello venture happen, even if she had to pull some strings with the Living Guildpact himself.

(Which, wouldn't you know it, definitely seemed like an option!)

But she wasn't thinking about any of that today, because today, she was back at Fandom, back behind the bar, and serving jello to her loyal friends and fans for at least one more time. With a koala set up nearby with his own special tray of eucalyptus jello (she considered making them boozy, but realized that she did not have the energy after nearly two week so straight off-the-walls partying to deal with what a koalalien was like when drunk), she was here and feeling pretty excited about it.

"Lucifer!" Remy barked. "What are you eating?!"

Lucifer (the cat) hunched over, further hiding what he was chewing on from sight. Oliver, perched on Remy's shoulder, whined. Was he telling on his brother? Jealous of his brother? Who knew?

"Hi everyone!" Steve said.

"Meet our newest assistants, Liberty and Fee," Tony said brightly, holding up a pair of dog harnesses that held little paintball guns on them. "They'll be going through the obstacle course we've set up along with you as some extra opponents."

Oh no, they'd armed the puppies.

"Or they'll just tackle you and drool," Steve said with a chuckle. "They aren't very intimidating."

The course in question might look vaguely familiar, but they were human sized. And that'd be fun for everyone, right?

Prompto had a camera to work on that Tuesday in the shop, but it wasn't one from the usual broken camera guy. In fact, that guy hadn't been in with a broken camera in ages, instead popping in now only for more film or accessories or to get Prompto's advice on setting up his own dark room, which was very cool.

No, today's repair was for a much more intimidating and nerve-wracking client: Noctra. She'd finally busted her little My First Camera they'd gotten her (honestly, Prompto was surprised it lasted as long as it did!), and so of course he was going to do everything he could to fix it.

It was....surprisingly more difficult from some of his other repairs, too, and he wondered if that wasn't just the pressure of disappointing this particular client that made it harder work.

Unless by some miracle of timing, it would seem that the betting board would be filled with disappointment yet again this week, as Ignis didn't suspect Liliana would just so happen to turn back into herself in time for their usual lunchtime rendevous at the diner. There was a possibility, of course, but he was still going to use this probable prospect of not being interrupted to focus a little bit more on his work.

Specifically in leading the charge on a good deep cleaning of kitchen.

It had benefits two-fold: not only was the kitchen going to be immacculate by the time they were done with it, but anyone who found those typical interruptions annoying would likely change their mind when this was the other option!

Good morning, Fandom. It is I, Boston, familiar to Adrian Blackwood. Ms. Finch, the normal reporter, is indisposed, and somehow the squirrels have decided that it should be my witch's problem. Since he is currently a plant, it falls to me to read these notes. That being said, rodents, while I am generally above chasing you, I am occasionally willing to make exceptions. Are we clear?

*intimidated chittering*

Excellent.

I believe it is customary to start with School, so we shall do so. Teamwork paired people up and gave them false offspring to care for. Well, that is surely going to go well. 2 Problem 2 Creative had a distinct lack of cats in class and tried to pass that off as a good thing. They also had to order pizza but without saying specific words. I believe there's a board game with a similar premise. How To Waste Time On The Internet talked about watching longer and more relaxing videos, and yesterday would have been an excellent time to have discussed TikTok - I believe that is the app, being a cat I would not know, obviously - but, sadly, the class did not. Thinking on it further, I don't think it's important or necessary to spend any time on it at all in any future classes. Last, Destiny & Free Will discussed the semantics and the difference between fate and destiny. A fascinating topic, and a pity I missed it.

No Dorms, and so we go to Town. The Magpie Emporium had a great deal of pizza, but these notes assure me that no amount of pizza is too much pizza. Interesting, especially since I had not asked. Pizza Planet quiet, a little too quiet, and Officer McGarrett was taking down suspect information at the Trooper Station. The Clinic was a hotbed of anxiety due to pacing, and the notes have no word on whether or not it was resolved.

There was also a movie showing at the park. Plenty of people attended, including Mr. Gray, both Miss Zarrins, Ms. Pryde-Barton who had set the whole movie up, and Captain Flint. Ms. Skywalker and Mr. J. Stark caught up with each other, neither of them having seen the movies and both keeping busy. Mr. J. Stark has also spent a great deal of time...making breakfast for a cat? I approve. More people should prepare meals for their cats. Miss Skywalker also shared food with Mr. Raiden and they discussed history. Mr. Skalitz - Mr. Of Skalitz, perhaps? - received a brief explanation of what movies and explosions are from Mr. Rogers, before Mr. Skalitz began focusing on the dogs accompanying Mr. Rogers. Mmmm. I suppose that's a choice. Ms. Ingram - hmmm - and Mr. Amicitia were also watching the movie for the first time and had a picnic basket to share. Mrs. Solo-Fel was there with Mr. Fel and their sons, and they were joined by Mr. Skywalker and his son, who also discussed snacks. This appears to be a very snack-forward group. Understandable. Treats are very important. I haven't had any in days. Mr. Argentum and Mrs. Solo-Fel left the topic of snacks to discuss children, specifically their own, and not random urchins, probably because this isn't a Dickensian novel. Mr. Rogers caught up with his husband, Mr. T. Stark, to continue the custom of conversing about snacks, though in this case, the snacks in question were charcuterie and wine. Oh, and the dogs were there, which apparently concerned Doctor Blake and delighted Mr. J. Stark.

That is all the news the squirrels have, since presumably conversation and activity stopped when the movie began. Since I am finished here, I believe it is time that I, too, found something to eat. Fortunately, I still have Adrian's credit card. If he didn't want this many sushi purchases, he shouldn't have been a plant.

Good morning despite the timestamp no the player didn't forget that Mondays still happen even on vacation shut up, and welcome to your recap of yesterday's goings-on.

Miss Skywalker was celebrating her birthday at work with a free drink courtesy of the Starbucks. Happy belated birthday!

And in other birthday related news, Dr. Quinn received a delivery of a potted plant. Happy belated birthday as well, Dr. Quinn.

It was not the elder Miss Zarrin's birthday, but that did not stop her from enjoying a blended coffee and some pastries over at the Perk.

That is all there is to speak of for yesterday. Until next time, Fandom.

Coffees had been brought to the clinic and the crab was being...well, himself. But more so.

Stabby was pacing anxiously outside the perimeter of his tank. The nurses weren't sure why but it seemed best to leave him be.

The pacing waa making Stark anxious as well though.

The clinic was open, the crab was anxious, and the alien was anxious and on as well.

Jon nodded to his class. He...was not in a bad mood. Look, this class might be pointless, but at least it wasn't stressful.

"One of the best ways to waste time on the internet is to watch videos. They take longer than pictures, after all, and unlike music or podcasts, you can't really multitask while watching them." He frowned. "I assume. Normal humans can't really, anyway." He shook himself. He was not going to attempt multitasking right now.

Instead, he held up his phone. "You'll find some videos on Instagram and other social media, but there are two main sources for them: Youtube and TikTok. I tend to mostly use Youtube because the videos are longer and the search function isn't quite so egregiously horrible." Also because he was a Millennial and not Gen Z, but hush.

"Cat videos are wonderful, but don't tend to be very long, so if you're looking to really waste a lot of time, I encourage you to look up how-to videos, science demonstrations, house renovations, and that sort of thing. Oh, and if you want to waste a bit of time but not quite that much, this little gear here lets you switch them to double speed, so you can watch the same thing but faster."

He nodded. "Right, so - find something and share it, and let's all waste time."

Seriously - least. Stressful. Class. Ever.

Steve was on the phone with the Baltimore police. "No," he said. "No. No, sir, we haven't seen anything like that, but if we do run into two Welsh guys and a stolen penguin named Dirk, you'll be our first call."

He hung up and turned to Calvin. "Can you go check in with the raccoons and check that there's not a new penguin here named Dirk?"

How was this his life. How.

The Trooper Station was open, especially if you were a penguin named Dirk.

Class today met down at the pond, as Ghanima felt like feeding the flamingos.

"Today, children, we discuss semantics," Ghanima said briskly from her seat on the grass.  "Although the words are used interchangeably in many cases, fate and destiny can be, and should be, distinguished."  She smiled slightly as Trebor dug his hands in the grass and giggled.  "Don't groan at me.  Semantics are your friends, I promise.  When you know a word, inside and out, it becomes more than a word.  It's a friend, a weapon, and a great source of fun at the expense of other people."

Expand'Fate is not the ruler, but the servant of Providence.' -- Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton )

"So, let's chat.  Semantics and harbingers of fate.  I'm curious to hear what you think."

When the students came in, they were greeted by table and chair with a pizza box (sadly empty), and a strange object sitting on it.

"Good morning, everyone," Anakin said. "I am still not a cat!"

Congratulations, Anakin.

"There are also far fewer cats involved in this week's class," Ahsoka remarked, almost regretfully.

Anakin looked smug. "Yes, there are." Unless someone brought in a cat as a satisfying thing to touch.

Let's be real, there was a non-zero chance someone had. Speaking off, it was time to touch all the things that had been brought in.

"Homework first and then we will explain the pizza box," Anakin said. Well. Sort of explain it.

If you ever felt you knew less by the time these classes ended than when they started, it was possibly entirely by design.

Once all the things had been touched and judged. Ahsoka continued "Your task today is to order a pizza."

"Yes," Anakin said, eyes twinkling. "Using that phone, order an extra large vegetarian pizza with pepperoni and bacon, and without tomato and cheese. You may not use the following words: extra; large; vegetarian; pizza; pepperoni; bacon; tomato; or cheese."

"You will also receive a bonus point if you can get the person taking your call to say ''bubbles," Ahsoka added.
