Sometimes, Sam actually did sleep. Without classes to get him up, he'd fallen asleep early this morning and was still sleeping pretty soundly right now. That, of course, meant Sam's ghosts were out.

And no, these were not ghosts in a closet like skeletons in a closet. These were actual ghosts, visages of the dead floating around Sam's sleeping body, shrieking and moaning and keening. Sam's brow crinkled and he was tossing and turning a bit. Somewhere inside his sleeping mind, he knew what was happening but he hoped the ghosts would go away. What he once thought was a nightmare was now just a side effect of his powers.

The ghosts dipped lower, floating helplessly right above Sam's body. He curled up around a pillow and tried to block them out. The ghosts didn't go away. One screamed. Another whimpered.

Sam started looking a little restless.

[Door closed but post open! Seeing the ghosts is reserved for one person so anyone after her will just see Sam looking a little tired. And NFB on the ghosts, of course. Just looks like Sam's having a bad sleep.]

"What do we do now?" he asked, sounding a little more relaxed now. "I kinda ruined the morning with my, well, visitors."

"Cuddle?" she suggested in a whisper. It wasn't a new idea. It had been with her since he'd invited her to Seattle, really.

[necroslacker]

"I would have never taken you for someone who likes cuddling so much," he said warmly. "You wanna cuddle? That sounds really good, actually."

[whenshewasnice]

"Knowing people and seeing past things," Natalie reminded him, slowly letting go. As nice as it was to hang onto him, it wasn't very conducive to moving. Towards the bed, say.

"Just don't let me fall asleep again," Sam said, padding over to the bed and flopping down on his belly. He'd shift around...in a second or two.

[whenshewasnice]

"I won't," Natalie said, climbing on the bed after him. "I'm sure I can keep you awake enough."

[necroslacker]

"By cuddling me to death?" he asked with a little laugh.

[whenshewasnice]

"Death might be a little extreme," she replied as she lay down next to him. "And unnecessary."

[necroslacker]

"Just a figure of speech," he said, turning his head towards her and smiling. "I'm not actually expecting death."

[whenshewasnice]

"Good," Natalie nodded, pushing hair from her face. "Because it's not happening."

They'd had quite enough of that theme already.

"You can cuddle me however you want," Sam murmured. "I know you're a little particular about how you sleep with someone."

[whenshewasnice]

"I'm not going to sleep right now," Natalie replied, turning onto her side so she could drape a leg over him. "And I keep telling you, I'm not that particular about that."

[necroslacker]

"You're pretty particular," he said, giving her a little smile. "Remember, I've been sleeping besides you for about six months now."

[whenshewasnice]

"Not even once a week." Though that was about to change, drastically. "Do you really think that's enough to draw conclusions from?"

Yes, yes it was.

[necroslacker]

"Yes," He said, nodding. "Yes, it is. You can't draw conclusions about my style when it comes to relaxing?"

[whenshewasnice]

"No."

Wow was that ever a bad lie. Not the delivery, obviously, but the sheer unlikelyhood of it.

[necroslacker]

"You, my dear," Sam said, scooting closer to give her nose a light kiss, "are a liar. And yes, I can tell."

[whenshewasnice]

Natalie scrunched up her nose almost involuntarily.

"Did you just call me 'your dear'?"

[necroslacker]

"Yeah." He blushed a bit. "Don't like endearments?"

[whenshewasnice]

"No, I like it," she said, watching that blush appear with mild fascination. "Don't jump to conclusions."

[necroslacker]

"Sorry." He shrugged. "Some people don't like them. It's not like I bust them out a lot either, right? Once every so often isn't bad."

[whenshewasnice]

Natalie gave that a quiet snort. "I already said I liked it," she pointed out. "You don't need to defend it."

[necroslacker]

"I can defend it if I wanna," Sam told her, making a face. "You can't stop me."

[whenshewasnice]

"I'm not trying to," she replied, amused. "Now you're just being defensive for the sake of being defensive."

[necroslacker]

"Hey, what'd you think of my mom?" Sam asked, not caring about the randomness of the question. He'd been curious.
