There hadn't been a lot of sleeping last night. Sure, he'd tried but he'd had a stupid nightmare that had left him breathing hard and sweating. He hadn't wanted to wake up Natalie so he'd grabbed his board and headed out to do...something. He just wanted to shake the nightmare off.

The hours had passed slowly but he'd stayed out the entire night, alternating between skateboarding and walking and sitting on benches both around the island and the mainland. Eventually, the sun started coming up and Sam started making his way back to the room. He stopped to pick up some breakfast on the way and was now slipping back inside the room quietly since it was still early.

He wasn't going to be going back to sleep but that didn't mean he had to wake anyone else up.

"What's that for?" Natalie asked, catching that expression while drying her hair.

Like she didn't know.

"No reason," he laughed, draping the towel around his neck before opening the bathroom door and making his way out into their room.

Natalie made a sound of amusement, because she actually saw his back as he went on his way. She may have had mild manners but her nails were still sharp.

"Of course not," she drawled, as she followed him out into the room.

Sam had tossed the towel over the back of his chair by then and was just now pulling on a pair of shorts that would be good for laying around in. He didn't bother with a shirt before he flopped down on his side of sighed.

Natalie had wrapped her towel around herself, but even she took it off once she got to her dresser and started looking for a shirt and a fresh pair of shorts.

In comfortable silence.

It was a comfortable silence and Sam wasn't going to break it if he could help it. He just kept smiling over at her and waited until she was dressed and ready to climb into bed with her.

Natalie pulled on some shorts and a baggy shirt before padding over to the bed and climbing on it.

She lay herself down right beside him.

"Hello, again," Sam murmured, turning towards her and smiling. "How's it going?"

[whenshewasnice]

"It's going well," Natalie replied with a little sigh. "Maybe even lazy. And feeling the effects of that bit of studying."

[necroslacker]

"Yeah?" He smirked and glanced over at her. "So's my back. It feels like it's been used as a study guide."

[whenshewasnice]

"Wrong. I'm gentler with my study guides." That was actually true, even though she used it as a joke here. "But you can take it."

[necroslacker]

"Your nails are sharp," he sighed, settling down and tucking an arm under his head. "But yeah, I can take it."

"And you like it," she added, shifting closer. "No point denying it."

[necroslacker]

"I do, you're right," Sam said, giving her room to tuck herself against him. "I like you too. So, yeah."

Natalie cuddled up close to him before settling down, face buried half against his neck.

"Well, I like you too."

"Good," Sam murmured, already feeling the slight pull off sleep hitting him due to the exertion earlier. "Good."

And that was all he said because that was really all that needed to be said especially since he was warm and comfortable and spent and happy to just cuddle for awhile.
