necroslacker: (dream on)

room 216 ; wednesday afternoon

Like a moron, Sam was bleeding again. Skateboarding injuries happened so often that he'd just kept on boarding while the blood bled through the sleeves of his shirt and the sweat from his arms stung the scratches and gashes.

He'd eventually come back to his room and was just now getting to pulling off his shirt and taking a look at the damage. He'd definitely had worse (his back was a testament to that) but the souvenirs he'd gotten from a completely avoidable fall still hurt.

Sam took a seat on the bed and pulled out his first aid kit (yes, he had one). He'd get himself cleaned up and bandaged up and his elbows would ache and throb for a few hours before it wore off and they were good to get shredded in another fall in the future.

"You really should wear elbow pads," Brooke said, popping into existence beside him on the bed. Sam groaned and didn't look at her.

"Not now," he griped, shaking his head. "Go do...dead person things."

"Dead person things?" Brooke asked, laughing. "I am doing a dead person thing. I'm bothering you!"

Sam groaned again and tried to ignore her while he cleaned up his elbows. Arguing with Brooke was like arguing with a massive brick wall. He never won so he'd just listen.

[Door is halfway closed but the post is open. Regular humans are gonna just see and hear Sam talking to himself but if you've got the ability, you can see and hear Brooke too. NFB on what Brooke actually is though, please]

"Not really, no." Lack of opposable thumbs just didn't work for her. Plus. "I was pink." Nothing, nothing made up for that shit.

"I'd have preferred the no talking."

"No." The vehemence in that one word might make a person call 'too much protest'. "They couldn't have at least picked me a decent, less cutesy colour? If they absolutely had to make me into something dumb."

"It was just annoying," she grumbled, reining back her irritation. "I couldn't do anything I'd normally do. You'd have been grumpy too."

"Why weren't you?" If it'd skipped him completely, that was just plain unfair.

"I want an identity crisis if that's the upshot!" Besides avoiding the pony turning, not being her would be a relaxing experience, she was sure.

Kate fiddled with her Batman-like belt and all it's pockets for a few moments to produce a little bottle of fluid and a lighter. Those got offered to him.

Which would probably be confusing if you weren't the sort of person to burn bandages. Which, obviously, she was.

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-07-13 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not my plan--" Kate frowned. "For the gauze. You don't just leave blood around, right?" Right?

... Or perhaps he did.

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
No, she didn't. "It's blood," Kate reiterated. Had no one ever tried to teach him these things? Or was his world that different from hers...

"It has power. Spells are always calling for a drop of blood, because magic stays with it. Even after it's not in you anymore. Which is why you burn bandages. It's even part of the medmage oath."

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Kate scowled at the suggestion. "Of course not." She had plenty enough magic of her own, without hijacking someone else's. "Why the hell would I tell you this, if I was trying to steal it?" It would've been made far easier by leaving him ignorant.

Vague, but given she knew a little something, she got the gist of that, and wrinkled her nose. Yes, she was a necromancer, and yet still, the idea of piloting a corpse made her feel dirty.

"Well, to the right people, it's also a big neon sign that you 'call' things." People could use blood for all sorts of things. Bodily fluids in general seemed to have that property, it just turned out blood was the strongest.

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course not," Kate snapped, and her scowl reappeared, and she started tucking her lighter back away again. "Whatever. Leave it all over, what do I care." As far as she was concerned, it was just what you did. It was what anyone with any decent amount of power did.

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"You keep assuming I'm some kind of creepy, power hungry bandage thief!" He couldn't see how that came across just a little insulting?

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Kate sighed, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. "I never said anything about being a savage, or wasting blood. It's not like you don't have plenty more."

"It's a security thing, is all." One that had been so firmly drilled into her, it seemed odd that other people were so relaxed about it.

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"If you use it for what you do, then I'm thinking it does." It all came back to blood. It tended to be one of those universal truths. "At least in part."

Kate shifted a shrug of her own, crossing her arms. "It's just not a risk I take." Possibly she was a lot little paranoid. "Would have my dad turning in his grave if I did."
