room 216 ; sunday afternoon
Sam was doing a whole lot of nothing today. He'd missed a phone call from Brid earlier and his phone was resting on his chest in an attempt to force himself to return that call. It hadn't worked yet. For awhile, Sam had just stared at the ceiling while his thoughts bounced around in his head. When that hadn't worked, he'd read a book. Actually, he'd read the same line in the book for about fifteen minutes before he'd given up on that.
And then he'd amazingly fallen asleep. Sam didn't know if he'd fallen asleep just to get out of making that call or if he'd fallen asleep because he was tired but whatever the reason, it'd been good enough to get him out of returning the call for the moment. The phone was actually ringing again and Brid was the other end, determined to actually get Sam to pick up this time.
Alas, poor Sam, he was still sleeping.
[Door's cracked, post is open and if you want a weetiny to answer the phone, go for it.]

But, her reading was interrupted by a ringing phone. When no one seemed to pick the call up, she had to go investigate. Once she'd located the room the sound was coming from, she knocked lightly on the door, then peered in when she noticed it wasn't all the way closed.
... And then the person inside was sleeping. She wasn't quite sure of the etiquette in a situation like this.

Sam sighed and flopped an arm over his eyes, trying to block that ringing out of his dreams. They weren't good dreams anyway.

She turned away from Sam and kept her voice a little quieter as she answered the phone with a, "Bonjour, hello, Natalie Adams speaking."
Sorry, Brid.

"This is who?" she finally asked, a frown in her voice.

Helpful.

And why was she getting so pissed that another girl was answering his phone? If only she knew.

"Dunno," Natalie said, then glanced over her shoulder at Sam. "What's he look like?"

And she was going to smack herself when she figured out that she was jealous of an eight year old.

"Who's there?" he mumbled, trying to get his hair out of his eyes. He blinked again and tried to see what had just come into his room but couldn't immediately spot the noise. "Uh, Brooke?"
Well, she was a ghost.

Or in this case, end up with a small child pointing the (not very sharp) end of a fake sword at you, and engaging in a few experimental prods.
He needed to learn somehow.

He opened his eyes and focused on the little kid next to his bed, poking him with something that looked like a sword but wasn't sharp.
"Cut it out, kid!" Sam said, swatting the sword away. "That's not nice."
