So, it was Natalie's first birthday with Sam as her boyfriend and Sam kind of wanted to make that a memorable experience for her. Of course, that had been before this week had come along, leaving everyone wanting to jump everyone else at a moment's notice. Sam went ahead with his plans though. He found his way down to the cabins, picked one and actually started filling it with books, trying to make it resemble a library of some sort. Then, he set up a small table and two chairs, complete with candle in the center.

The food, it was takeout, but it was still hot and Sam was in a suit (different from the one at the dance) that included a vest and that was rocking pinstripes. He'd been going for dinner in a library setting since he knew how much she loved books and while having dinner in an actual library wasn't happening, he had money, he could buy books and then give them all to her if she hadn't read them before. He'd lugged his record player down as well, giving them some softer music playing to add background noise.

Now, it would be a struggle to see if they could get through dinner but Sam would try. And he was currently waiting outside the cabin for Natalie since he'd had her meet him there so he could set up and surprise her.

Sam couldn't breathe. Well, scratch that, yes he could. It was just a harsh, panting breathing that was he muffling against her shoulder. He hoped she wouldn't mind.

He was still on his feet but he was leaning more heavily against her and the table, trying to catch his breath and stay upright after all that.

The twitchy energy was gone for the moment (thankfully) and he just felt relaxed and content and not so ready to completely come out of his skin anymore.

Natalie leaned against him and together they formed a sort of a precarious balance that would probably keep them both upright-ish for the time being. She was just trying to breathe, too. Happy to have skin on skin and just... not move for a moment because while the twitchy energy was gone, so was regular energy.

It'd come back in a moment but she was enjoying this.

She thought she could hear the distant ding of experience points, somewhere past her content feeling.

"You all right?" Sam asked after letting the silence lengthen for awhile. "Happy birthday again."

So, maybe being naked and inside her while she was wrapped around him counted as a present? Sort of? He had others, though.

It wasn't something she could report back to the parents about but sure, she counted it as a present.

Insert joke about hard packages here.

"Thanks," she murmured, resting her head against his shoulder. "That was great."

"Yeah, you're welcome," he said, chuckling at that and reaching up to stroke her back a few times with his fingertips.

So, they'd just had sex on the table meant for the food. This was certainly one of the weirder birthday celebrations Sam had ever been a part of.

Natalie as well, but for Fandom, she figured, this was par for the course.

She sighed at his touch. The new, soft one. "Not what I was expecting from this birthday."

"Me either," he admitted with a quiet little laugh. "It's been really hard not to think about this all week though. I thought being together after the dance would scratch the itch but..."

Well, here they were again.

"It was just temporary," Natalie filled in. Because it was pretty obvious she'd been feeling it too.

He had evidence of that all around him. "It's the island. Something in the air. Good chance it won't stop before we leave for Spring Break."

"Something in the air."

Sam glanced around like maybe he'd be able to see this thing in the air she was alluding to but he couldn't.

"Should I...should I stay away so it's not island forced anymore?"

He was trying to be a good guy here, yeah.

Natalie could tell. She quirked a crooked smile at him.

"It's not taking away my free will," she pointed out. And, shut up, maybe she liked how whatever was in the air could make her lose control. It wasn't like she'd do that on her own. "Don't saty away."

She might get annoyed at him if he did, in fact. He was providing important release for her tension.

"Okay, I won't stay away," he decided, leaning forward to kiss her lightly since her lips were right there and all. They just needed to be kissed.

"Just wanted to check," he explained quietly. "Just in case you felt like it wasn't...your choice kinda deal here."

Natalie nodded. She understood. She knew enough about the way he thought about himself to even expect that kind of courtesy. In his fear of becoming evil he ended up being kind of an exceptional guy.

She kissed him back, and said. "It's my choice. This was my choice."

"Okay," he sighed, both in relief and enjoyment of how nice that was to hear and how good she felt around him. "Think we ruined dinner."

Oops.

"Guess we made it longer than the night at the dance, at least."

They'd had some food before clothes started coming off.

Natalie exhaled. It sounded like it had a hint of laughter. "In each other's company, no less." Since they'd gone their separate ways for a bit at the dance. "I don't care about the dinner. It was nice as long as it lasted."

But this had been nicer.

"I do have gifts for you," he said, reminding himself as much as her. "I...should I put on clothes to get them?"

Was it safe or not weird to walk around naked in the shack? He wasn't sure.

"You could put on pants," Natalie suggested, because for some reason it did feel weird to just hang out naked. Also she might not have entirely trusted herself around his naked body. "I could... put on your shirt."

She wasn't getting back in that dress yet.

"Good plan," Sam said, backing away from her and moaning just a bit at the loss of contact with her. It was going to take a second or two to find his pants so Natalie would just have to look at his nakedness for awhile longer.

It was not a hardship. Losing the contact was, though. Sigh. But she watched him, and didn't move.

"Can you give me the shirt?"

Once he was ready with his... nakedness.

"Yeah, yeah," Sam said, finally finding his pants and pulling themm over his wobbly legs. He snagged his shirt up next and brought it over to her so it could be draped over her shoulders.

And now Sam was starting to wonder if he could deal with the sight of her ihis clothes. "You need help getting it on?"

Natalie hid a smile by looking down and shook her head. "No, I'm fine." The movements were maybe a little more languid than usual, but she slid her arms in the sleeves easily enough.

She even did a few of the buttons, to look presentable. Or even more attractive. Who knew.

Christ, she was definitely fine. Seeing her wear his clothes had a jolting effect on him and Sam had to hurriedly turn away and reach for one of her gifts.

He actually didn't look at her when he passed the softly wrapped gift to her.

Natalie would've questioned him not looking at her, but her attention was on the gift. "Thank you," she said, not having even unwrapped it yet. Even half naked and only wearing his shirt, she couldn't shake her upbringing.

And once she had opened it, and taken a closer look at the blanket, a warm little smile appeared. "Thank you," she repeated, sounding more genuine. "I like it. Fitting."

"I thought so," Sam said, having finally steeled himself to look at her wearing his shirt and nothing else. He had to blink a few times though just because it was still an amazing sight.

"It's nothing super amazing but I thought of you when I saw it."

The next gift was a little heavier and wrapped heavily since Sam wasn't great at wrapping things well.

Natalie accepted this one as gracefully as she had the first, and weighed it in her hands a little before unwrapping it.

"Oh," she said, with another pleased little smile. "Useful."

Because her current stereo was a bit crap, and she tended to end up using her computer more often than not.

Sam hoped that meant she liked it though the smile seemed to indicate that. He pulled out the the next gift and passed it across to her.

"Last one," he said, smiling. "Hope you like it."

The presents had had a theme, you see. Hey, he'd taken note when she said music comforted her.
