There hadn't been a lot of sleeping last night. Sure, he'd tried but he'd had a stupid nightmare that had left him breathing hard and sweating. He hadn't wanted to wake up Natalie so he'd grabbed his board and headed out to do...something. He just wanted to shake the nightmare off.

The hours had passed slowly but he'd stayed out the entire night, alternating between skateboarding and walking and sitting on benches both around the island and the mainland. Eventually, the sun started coming up and Sam started making his way back to the room. He stopped to pick up some breakfast on the way and was now slipping back inside the room quietly since it was still early.

He wasn't going to be going back to sleep but that didn't mean he had to wake anyone else up.

"So full of compliments today," Sam murmured, smiling against her lips. "Must really want to study that sin with me, hmm?"

"Why wouldn't I?" she asked. "There is no one better for me to study lust with."

"And you wanna study it right here in the shower?" Sam asked, stealing another kiss from her and lingering again.

[whenshewasnice]

"Why not?"

Hey, she'd even started to make sure there were condoms in the small bathroom cabinet since that one time.

"Because..." Well, Sam didn't finish because he was leaning forward and trying to kiss her again. "...practicalities."

Natalie didn't let little things like kissing keep her from talking. Sure, it was a little mumbly, but she still sounded amused. Bordering on wicked, even.

"Shows how often you look in the cabinet."

"What's in the cabinet?" Sam asked before he actually started backing her up towards the wall to give some better leverage and support in the slippery shower.

Natalie let him: there was no reason not to, though she she gave a quiet hiss when the tiles were still a little cool against her back.

"What do you think?"

"Maybe candy?" Sam said just to be a smartass about it. His lips found her neck and he started sucking lightly. "NEw toothpaste?"

Natalie's own smartass answer gave way to a sigh, and a little hum of pleasure. Her hands trailed up his sides.

"No. Something more practical and related to... this."

[necroslacker]

"New soap?" he asked, biting down slightly on the spot where neck met shoulder. "Shower cap?"

[whenshewasnice]

"Don't be a jackass," Natalie sighed, dragging her nails over his ribs. "Practicalities. Condoms. I put some in there."

[necroslacker]

"I had guessed that," he said, laughing and pushing his hips into hers just to show her that he wasn't a complete dunce. "Very smart of you."

[whenshewasnice]

"Well I'm a smart girl," she drawled, maybe a little distractedly. His hips were distracting. "It's what I'm known for."

"Is it?" Sam asked, slipping a hand in between them and tracing a line down her ribs and towards her thigh. "Mmm. Guess I can't argue with anyone there."

[whenshewasnice]

"And you shouldn't," Natalie muttered. "My smarts benefit you." Her hands moved up to his arms, then over his shoulders. "A lot."

"And don't I benefit you?" Sam murmured, coming back up to give her another kiss. "I think I do."

[whenshewasnice]

"You do," she replied, trying to nip at his bottom lip a little, this time. "You definitely do. But in this case I think my smarts will be making that possible."

[necroslacker]

"You're probably right," he said, smiling softly at her. "Hey, I love you."

He just wanted to say it.

He caught her by surprise, and she smiled more freely than she tended to. Didn't really realize she was doing it, either.

"I love you too."

[necroslacker]

"Made you smile," Sam said, tapping a finger against her lips. "Can't take that big cheesy grin back either."

He grinned and kissed the tip of her nose.

Natalie's nose wrinkled up. "I don't grin." There was no arguing with the cheesy part, though. "Ever."

"You grinned," he argued, smirking at her. "Telling you that I love you made you grin like a cheesy cheesy grinning grinner. So there."

[whenshewasnice]

"Nope." That was a brilliant argument, right there. "Anyway, I thought you were gearing up to be lustful and take me against the wall."

Distraction!

"I know you're trying to distract me," he said and didn't admit that it was working. He just smiled and leaned down to kiss her again, lingering this time before he glanced around. "Should I get a thing now or wait?"
