There hadn't been a lot of sleeping last night. Sure, he'd tried but he'd had a stupid nightmare that had left him breathing hard and sweating. He hadn't wanted to wake up Natalie so he'd grabbed his board and headed out to do...something. He just wanted to shake the nightmare off.

The hours had passed slowly but he'd stayed out the entire night, alternating between skateboarding and walking and sitting on benches both around the island and the mainland. Eventually, the sun started coming up and Sam started making his way back to the room. He stopped to pick up some breakfast on the way and was now slipping back inside the room quietly since it was still early.

He wasn't going to be going back to sleep but that didn't mean he had to wake anyone else up.

"I just want to have a nice shower with my boyfriend," Natalie replied. "And it might even double as studying."

She had some logic behind that, believe it or not.

"It might double as studying?" Sam asked, glancing over his shoulder so he could see her. "How so?"

Natalie shrugged a shoulder, pretending innocence.

"I missed a lecture on one of the seven deadly sins."

"...which one?" Sam asked even if he did have a guess. "A good one?"

[whenshewasnice]

"Dunno." Yeah, she did know. "Is lust a good one?"

[necroslacker]

"I think that depends on how you're gonna study that now," Sam replied with a little smile. "Might be the deciding factor on whether it's good or not."

"Do you think I'd study it in a bad way?" she questioned. "Choose a theoretical viewpoint instead of a practical one?"

"Well, I don't know your study techniques," Sam pointed out. "I don't know what you'd do hence my question!"

Natalie sighed. "Is that how little faith you have in me?"

[necroslacker]

"It's curiosity, not lack of faith in you," Sam told her, snickering again. "Don't always assume the worst."

"Don't ask dumb questions," she retorted. "Of course I'd make it a good sin."

[necroslacker]

"And you want me to help you study?" Sam asked, still smiling. "How?"

[whenshewasnice]

Natalie rested her cheek against his shoulder and rubbed the side of one of her thumbs against his stomach. "You're a teenaged boy. Figure it out."

"And you're the one that has particular study habits," Sam retorted, shaking his head. "You don't think you should help me figure it out?"

"Now you're just clinging to my habits too hard," she murmured. "This is freeform studying."

[necroslacker]

"You're talking to a slacker about forms of study," Sam said, turning around in her embrace so he could see her better. "Like I'm gonna know what that means."

"You're that confused by words like practical and theoretical?" Natalie wondered, teasing. Also settling her hands on his hips. "Wow, what do I even see in you?"

"You think I'm super good looking and funny," Sam joked, waggling his eyebrows. "That's what you see in me."

[whenshewasnice]

Natalie tilted her head as if she was considering his merits. "Well, you do have a certain dark-eyed charm, I guess..."

[necroslacker]

"And manbangs," he said, shaking his wet hair out to show those off. And then he leaned down and kissed her lightly. "I know you like those."

"Those are nice too," she agreed in a murmur. "And for a slacker, you're not in bad shape."

[necroslacker]

"Are you being shallow and showing appreciation for my body?" Sam asked, amused again. She got another kiss for that one too.

"Mmhmm." And it was getting her kissed, so she really didn't see anything wrong with that. "I am capable of that, you know. Appreciation for your body."

"I never said you weren't," Sam pointed out, leaning down and giving her a more lingering kiss now. "I've just never really heard you show appreciation. I like it."

"Oh I think you've heard me show appreciation of your body before," Natalie murmured against his lips, amused. "Just not in words."
