There hadn't been a lot of sleeping last night. Sure, he'd tried but he'd had a stupid nightmare that had left him breathing hard and sweating. He hadn't wanted to wake up Natalie so he'd grabbed his board and headed out to do...something. He just wanted to shake the nightmare off.

The hours had passed slowly but he'd stayed out the entire night, alternating between skateboarding and walking and sitting on benches both around the island and the mainland. Eventually, the sun started coming up and Sam started making his way back to the room. He stopped to pick up some breakfast on the way and was now slipping back inside the room quietly since it was still early.

He wasn't going to be going back to sleep but that didn't mean he had to wake anyone else up.

Natalie pushed her shorts down and kicked them off before she got closer. And then when she did, she reached out to put her hands on his shoulders, and rub them a little.

It was one way to say hi.

"Made your decision, hmm?" Sam asked after just enjoying her hands for a few seconds. "Thought you might wait till I got out to take your own shower."

He was glad she didn't.

"Why would I?" she asked, her hands still gently working against his skin, easing any tension he might have in his muscles. "You already robbed me of any cuddling that could have happened in bed."

"Sorry," he murmured, dropping his chin against his chest. "Bad night. I couldn't go back to sleep."

[whenshewasnice]

"I wasn't trying to make you feel bad," Natalie replied lightly. One of her hands trailed up the back of his neck to slide through his wet hair. "You can make up for it now."

"Missed the cuddling that much?" Sam asked, laughing quietly.

[whenshewasnice]

"I'm allowed," she said. Because she was! "I don't have a lot to do on Sundays."

[necroslacker]

"So, if you were super busy, you wouldn't miss cuddling?" Sam asked, sounding amused. "Uh huh."

[whenshewasnice]

"I'd be too busy." Considering the way she tended to lose herself in various activities, that wasn't that much off the mark. "Yeah."

"You can be busy and still miss things," Sam pointed out. "Okay, maybe you can't but a lot of people can. If you're not here and I can't cuddle you, I can still miss it."

Natalie chuckled quietly and leaned against his back a little.

"Do you have a point you're trying to make, or are you just arguing just because?"

"Maybe a little of both?" Sam replied, shrugging a shoulder. "Not that I know what my point is but I'm sure I could find one if I gave it some thought."

"Please don't," Natalie murmured, nuzzling the shoulder he'd just shrugged. "That's not what you should be focusing on."

"What should I be focusing on?" Sam sighed, feeling a little more relaxed finally.

[whenshewasnice]

"Making up for the lack of cuddling."

Duh. Come on, Sam.

"You don't think I'm focusing on making up for the lack of cuddling?" Sam asked, snickering. "I am. I'm focused."

[whenshewasnice]

"No, you're letting me do all the work," Natalie retorted. "You're just standing there enjoying it."

[necroslacker]

"Well, you're good at what you're doing," he murmured honestly. "And it feels nice and maybe I'm selfish sometimes."

[whenshewasnice]

She sighed and wrapped her arms around him.

"It's conflicting with my selfishness."

[necroslacker]

"So, you get to be selfish but I don't?" Sam laughed, covering one of her arms with his. "Or you wanna share selfishness?"

"I just want to have a nice shower with my boyfriend," Natalie replied. "And it might even double as studying."

She had some logic behind that, believe it or not.

"It might double as studying?" Sam asked, glancing over his shoulder so he could see her. "How so?"

[whenshewasnice]

Natalie shrugged a shoulder, pretending innocence.

"I missed a lecture on one of the seven deadly sins."

[necroslacker]

"...which one?" Sam asked even if he did have a guess. "A good one?"

"Dunno." Yeah, she did know. "Is lust a good one?"
